This is a vintage German viola, circa nineteenth century, by an unknown maker. The back is two-piece mild flame maple, and the top is two-piece wide-grain spruce. The varnish is of reddish-brown spirit with golden overtones.
It was appraised in 2012 for $4000
It was restored by David Sanders (Seattle, WA) in 1962
