Instrument Repair Technician

Overview

Lamorinda Music is now accepting applications for a full-time woodwind and brass repair technician. Lamorinda Music is a family-owned and operated full-line music store in charming downtown Lafayette, California in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to retail sales and rentals, Lamorinda Music has 14 teaching studios and a busy group performance room. Our shop staff repairs and maintains band and orchestra instruments from our own rental pool as well as customer and school instruments. We are an authorized dealer for Yamaha, Conn-Selmer, Pearl, Eastman, and others and only carry high-quality instruments. Our large rental fleet, extensive school network, and reputation within the local musician community provide a challenging and rewarding environment for a technician starting their career or one with extensive experience. The technician must be flexible enough to make simple repairs on customers’ horns while they wait as well as take on larger repair tasks like instrument overhauls.

We are looking for an enthusiastic woodwind and brass technician with at least three years of experience, but we will consider skilled applicants with less experience. We use AIM throughout the store and will train on that as needed. The applicant must be self-reliant and have a good eye for detail. The repair technician will work with customers directly, create and manage service tickets, order tools and supplies as needed, organize and clean the workshop area, and work closely with the strings/orchestral repair technician in the shop area. You will be working closely with two other technicians in a collaborative team environment, sharing knowledge and ensuring the highest quality repairs.
