Instrument Repair Associate

Overview

Lamorinda Music is now accepting applications for a part-time (24 hours/week) or full-time (40 hours/week) Instrument Repair Associate. Lamorinda Music is a family-owned and operated full-line music store in charming downtown Lafayette, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to retail sales and rentals, Lamorinda Music has 14 teaching studios and a busy group performance room.

This position is designed as an excellent entry point into the world of instrument repair. About 80% of your time will be spent in our busy repair shop, assisting our two full-time instrument repair technicians. The remaining 20% will be customer-facing, helping with rentals and general store support.

In the shop, you’ll assist with ultrasonic cleanings for brass instruments, performing minor repairs on school and customer instruments, and readying instruments for our extensive rental fleet. You’ll work closely with our experienced technicians in a collaborative and educational environment. You’ll learn how to evaluate instruments, process service tickets, and keep the shop organized and running smoothly. In the front of the store, you’ll interact with customers, help with sales and rentals, and process transactions using our AIM point-of-sale system.

No formal repair training is required for this position—just a willingness to learn, strong attention to detail, and the ability to balance shop work with friendly customer service.
