Ukulele legend Lil Rev teams up with Ray Cygrymus for a special afternoon at Lamorinda Music: a 3–4 pm workshop, Rock ’n’ Roll Styles for Ukulele, followed by a 4:15–5:15 pm concert. $40 covers both events. All levels welcome—bring your uke and prepare for a great time together!

Workshop #1 - Old Wine, New Bottles

Level: Beginner to Advanced

Time: 3:30PM - 4:30PM

Have you heard C, F, and G7 one too many times? Like an old, reliable pickup truck these three chords will get the job done... but like an old, reliable pickup truck they could do with a little TLC. A paint job, maybe? Or a new set of tires? In this all-levels workshop, James shows you how to breathe fresh life into these beloved workhorse chords. Fall in love with C, F and G7 all over again!

Workshop #2 - VIVA LA VIDA! 

Level: Beginner to Advanced

Time: 6 PM - 7 PM

Dive into the Coldplay classic "Viva La Vida" with James Hill. First, you'll experience the song as a multi-part ukulele orchestra arrangement (with parts for beginner, intermediate and advanced players). Then, we'll explore the piece as a chord-melody arrangement as you learn to juggle melody, harmony, and rhythm all at once on one ukulele. VIVA LA UKE!

James Hill Concert

Time: 7:10PM - 8PM

Following workshop #2, you can put your ukulele away and have a great time listening to James perform old and new favorites. 

 

Come for the workshop, the concert, or both!

 

Everyone's health is our primary concern. We are capping the workshop and the concert each at 45 people to allow everyone to spread out. We will follow all county health guidelines in force at the time of the event. At this time, masks are optional, though we ask that everyone attending be vaccinated and boosted.
