What's New

We are Open During the Lafayette Art & Wine Festival

This weekend Lafayette is putting on its wonderful annual Art & Wine Festival  that blocks off several downtown streets on Saturday, Sept 21st and Sunday, Sept 22nd.

We will be open our regular hours on Saturday, Sept 21st from 10AM to 5PM and we hope to see you here. There is a bit of a detour you have to take to reach the store, but don't worry it's worth it :-)

  • From Westbound 24, take the Central Lafayette Exit, then right on Deerhill, and right again on First Street.

  • From Eastbound 24, take exit 12 for Oak Hill Rd toward Central Lafayette, left on Oak Hill, then right on Deerhill, and right again on First Street.

  • Once on First Street (from either direction on 24) go right on Mt Diablo Blvd and then left on Moraga Rd.

  • Take another right on Brook St and a final right on Hough Ave (which turns into Lafayette Circle).

If a Festival volunteer asks you where you are heading, you can tell them you are going to Lamorinda Music and they will let you through.

Finally, we really appreciate your business and hope to see you on Saturday. However, once you are done visiting the store we ask that you find alternate parking before enjoying the festival so other patrons can park here. Thanks!

Do note that Lamorinda Music is hosting the free bike parking lot for the Festival so if you want to ride your bike here, you can park in our lot all day!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call the store at 925-385-0963 and we will help you out.

Back to School Instrument Rentals

We are your instrument rental headquarters! We have the best rental program around and our goal is to make it fun (and educational) to rent an instrument. Whether this is your first instrument rental or you are a rental veteran, we will make sure you leave with a great instrument at a fair price and you will know how to properly care for it. If your student doesn't know exactly which instrument they want, we are happy to let them try a few different instruments to see which one is right for them.

Click here for details and rates for our rental program. We rent both student and "step-up" instruments from the leading instrument manufacturers including Yamaha, Conn-Selmer, Eastman, and Century Strings. Rental FAQ's are here.

Click here for easy online rental signup - this will help speed your way through the rental process

Also, we offer an optional Maintenance Plan for your rental instrument. For a nominal additional monthly fee, the Plan covers any damage to the instrument and covers you in the event of theft or fire. Check out the details here.

Presenting the Ukulele Jake Shimabukuro built!

We are pleased to be the only West Coast dealer for Shima Ukuleles! Shima is the family-owned business of ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro and his brother, Bruce Shimabukuro, a fellow artist and teacher. Shima Ukes have a concert-quality sound and feel at an affordable price. The instrument was designed by Jake who took great care to ensure that playability and tone quality were not compromised with Shima Ukulele’s lower price point. Sustainable mahogany was selected for its consistent tonal character and each instrument is dressed with a custom D’Addario Pro Arte string set to help achieve a warm, consistent tone.

We carry the inaugural ukulele from Shima, the Jake Shimabukuro Wideneck Soprano Ukulele With Tenor Range. Plus each ukulele is signed by Jake himself! This uke has a soprano body, a concert-length neck, and the neck width of a tenor Kamaka. It is easy to play for beginners and experienced players alike.

Open Mic night - September 21st

We are excited to welcome Front Porch Open Mic to Lamorinda Music's Big Room!

From the hosts Austin and Andree: Are you a hobby musician or singer who enjoys folk, bluegrass, country, blues, roots, or Americana? We're musicians from Lafayette and are starting Front Porch open mic to network with like-minded musicians for enjoyment, collaboration, and to support each other on stage. Everyone should be afforded an audience, so for  two hours every month, we encourage performers to "play and stay!" This is also a great place to meet people that you're interested in playing with or performing with in the future (at this and other venues). First-time performers welcome!

Cost: $5-$10 suggested donation at the door.
