Your Back-to-School Rental Headquarters It is hard to believe but the new school year is just around the corner. We work closely with all the local music educators to be sure we have everything you or your student needs to be ready for the school year. This includes: High-quality, educator-approved new and used instruments available for rent from the leading manufacturers. Don't settle for second-rate instruments. Remember - 100% of your rental payments can be applied to the purchase price of the instrument All the band and orchestra method books for all the local school performing classes - covering both elementary and middle school. Private lessons taught by world-class instructors that complement the school band and orchestra programs All the accessories to make your playing as easy as possible- including reeds, cleaning supplies, music stands, etc.
	Here's a tip: Rental season can be pretty busy the first couple of weeks in September. If you know your child will need a rental instrument, come on in during August - the selection will be larger and the crowds smaller. Want to reserve your rental instrument right now? Fill out our rental form on-line and let us know what you want and when you want it. We will have the contract all ready for you when you come in to pick up your instrument.
	Join us Saturday, August 28th for our next Ukulele Jam at the store. Haven't played a ukulele before? No problem! We will have a beginning ukulele class from 3PM - 4PM followed by a low-pressure fun ukulele jam session from 4PM - 5PM. Come for one or both of them! As always, the class and jam session are free (though donations are always accepted). If you don't have a ukulele don't worry - you can rent one at the store for just $5 for the duration of the classes. Just call the store to sign up and we will see you there!

What's New?

• On July 1, 2009 Lamorinda Music opened its doors for business and officially became part of this wonderful musical community here in Lamorinda. We want to thank all of our great customers, instructors, and friends for making our first year a terrific success.
  
  
• Thanks to everyone that joined us for our "Rockin' Uke Class' on July 17th taught by Gary Peare. We were practically standing-room only and everyone had a good time learning the basics of playing the ukulele while playing some of the most popular music out there featuring the ukulele: Hey, Soul Sister by Train, I'm Yours by Jason Mraz, and even Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's rendition of Over the Rainbow. If you missed this class and want to attend our next one, please contact the store and put your name in!
  
  
• The Acalanes High School Music Department was recognized by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) as one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” in the Nation. There was a ceremony at Lamorinda Music with Acalanes instrumental music director Norm Dea and choral music director Bruce Lengacher where they were presented with the certificate and a banner celebrating the award. This is just one more indication how truly special our community is for music!
  
  
• Congratulations to the Stanley Middle School Jazz "Messengers" and Bob Athayde who were recently honored in DownBeat Magazine's 33rd Annual Student Music Awards as one of the winners in the Large Jazz Ensemble - Junior High School category. Anyone who has had the priviledge of listening to Bob's groups over the years knows how truly fortunate we are to have such great musicianship so close to home. It is a well-deserved award!

• We are very pleased to announce that Lamorinda Music is now an authorized dealer for Yamaha Band & Orchestra instruments. Yamaha is well known for providing world-class instruments for students, professionals, and everyone in between. Check out our Yamaha selection or go to the Yamaha main site for the full tour. • We now rent guitars and pianos! We have a wide selection of guitars from Yamaha, Luna, and Jasmine by Takamine for anyone looking to learn but isn't quite ready to make a full committment. We feature the Yamaha Arius YDP-140 DIgital Piano available for rent. The good news is that our rental guitars and pianos are all covered under our "no-risk" rental policy. All rental payments go toward the purchase price - no matter how long you rent it. Or return it when you are done with it - no worries!
